United Soccer Academy and Tournament Success Group partner with Soccer Locker to provide a great Fall soccer tournament for teams looking for a well-organized and professional coordinated tournament in preparation for the 2020-21 season.

Soccer Locker of Miami was established in 1981 and is rooted in the soccer culture of South Florida.  As Soccer Locker approaches its 40th year it strives to maintain itself as one of the leaders in the soccer gear, equipment and club/team uniforms.   Soccer Locker is excited for the Soccer Locker Cup and being able to continue to grow and serve the soccer community in Florida.

Soccer Locker Cup is a boys’ only tournament and will offer three levels of competition: Gold, Silver and Bronze Divisions for U9 through U19 teams. Plus, a division for U8 teams, U9 Future Stars.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Soccer Locker Cup will be played Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, 2020 and is sanctioned by FYSA. Local teams may be asked to play on Friday, October 9. The tournament will be held in Davie, Plantation and Coral Springs, Florida and is opened to all US Soccer affiliates & members (FYSA, US Club, AYSO, USSSA).  U9 through U12 are non-heading divisions.

WHERE: The main playing fields for the tournament will be Bamford Sports Park in Davie and Central Park and Sunset Park in Plantation.  As well as the option for additional fields in Coral Springs as needed.

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. During the tournament, a player may play for only one team.

Division I teams from across Florida are expected to participate in making this a highly competitive event at the Gold Divisions.

 

SILVER

Division II teams. Teams from across Florida are expected to participate in the Silver Divisions.

 

BRONZE

Bronze Division is primarily for recreational teams and new travel teams seeking comparative competition.

Soccer Locker of Miami was established in 1981. The store started in a retail strip center occupying 600 square feet. It soon grew to expand to 1,200 square feet as the popularity of soccer in the area increased. In 1994, with the excitement of the FIFA World Cup, the store relocated to its present location. To better serve teams and their team managers we provide eCheck-In (online/electronic check).  This will be mandatory for all teams. Any questions, please email Jairon Moreno at jmoreno@tournamentsuccessgroup.com.

DEADLINE for eCheck-In is Monday, September 15, 2020, at 11:59pm.   NO EXCEPTIONS.

Teams that missed the eCheck-in will need to check-in in person on Friday, September 18 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Site Directors Tent at Bamford Park.

eCheck-In Procedures:

Identify all Documentation to be uploaded by selecting the correct option from the documents drop-down. Upload documents as follows:

  1. Log into your GotSoccer.com team page
  2. Click on the event located under “Event Registration History”, United Soccer Cup
  3. Click on the “Documents” tab on the far right
  4. Upload documents under “Team Document Upload”
    • Ensure that you select the correct file name from the drop down
    • Only one pdf for passes/medical releases will be accepted – individual uploads will be rejected
    • Click on “Choose File” and select the correct pdf from your files
    • Click on “Upload”
    • Document will appear on the top left of the page if uploaded successfully
  5. Check on the “Notify Registrar” tab to alert the tournament committee documents that have been submitted.

Note: Name each individual file as follows:

  • Passes – individual passes will be rejected. One pdf only please.
  • Roster – must be official roster – no exceptions – see below under “Requirements”
  • Club Medical Releases. NO ADDITIONAL TOURNAMENT WAIVERS ARE REQUIRED
  • Guest Forms – must be fully completed

      • For players currently registered with FYSA, who wish to guest play with a US Youth Soccer team from another state association, if the play is within the state of Florida, their registrar must complete the FYSA Guest Player form, available in GotSoccer under the club tab.

To ensure a seamless e-Check-in, please:

  • Upload the documentation once everything is ready, do not load some documents or partial as those will not be reviewed or accepted.
  • Once all documents are submitted, please allow 2-3 days for review and approval. When approved, we will upload a stamped copy of your tournament approved roster in the event document area, which you have to print 4 copies to bring to each game.
    • Any issues with the documents submitted will be noted by us within the “Notify Registrar” chat box under the documents tab. Please resolve any issue and resubmit the revised/missing requirements.

Requirements:

  1. Official State Roster FYSA, US Club Roster, AYSO Roster or other National Organizations roster for clubs outside of Florida.
  2. All players have to be included on the roster – can be handwritten in (Name, Date of Birth, Pass number)
  3. Guest players within the club have to be pre-printed on the roster. A guest player form is NOT required
  4. Uniform jersey numbers are required for all players.
  5. All coach and bench staff personnel have to be on the roster and have a laminated pass
  6. Club Medical Release Forms for each player signed by a parent. NO ADDITIONAL MEDICAL RELEASES ARE NEEDED BESIDES YOUR CLUB MEDICAL RELEASES.
  7. Player Passes Upload: required for each player, coach, assistant coach, manager (Front Copy Single Version – Maximum 8 per page – No single passes accepted).
  8. Guest Player Forms must be completed in compliance with the sanctioning body that has issued the player passes. Please contact your club registrar for guidance.
    1.  FYSA – only electronically generated forms from within GotSoccer digitally signed by the loaning and accepting club will be accepted. No exceptions.
  9. State Permission to Travel for all teams outside of Florida. This does not apply to US Club rosters.

PLEASE NOTE: League rosters are not acceptable rosters such as SFUYSA, NPL, FPSL, GCF, etc.

Bracket of Four:  Played as a single group of four teams in a round-robin format, with the two teams accumulating the most points advancing to the final.

Bracket of Five: Played as a single group of five teams with all teams playing each other once. The team accumulating the most points will be announced as the Champion. The team accumulating the second most amount of points will be the Finalist.

Bracket of Six: Played as two groups (brackets of three teams).  Each team will cross over and play the three teams in the other group/bracket.  The two teams accumulating the most points from all six teams will advance to the finals to determine which team is the champion.  It is possible that the finalists could have played each other already.

Bracket of Seven: Played as a single group of seven teams with all teams playing a total of four matches.  Note, teams will not play all other teams in the bracket. The team accumulating the most points will be announced as the Champion. The team accumulating the second most amount of points will be the Finalist.

Bracket of Eight: Played as two groups of four. The winner of each round-robin group will play a final game to determine the Champion and Finalist.

DETERMINATION OF GROUP WINNERS

In group play, there will be no overtime games.  Standings in a group will be determined by Game Points: 3 points for a Win, 1 point for a Tie, 0 points for a Loss.

If Two Teams Tie:  Starts with tie breaker number 1 and proceeds through each level, as needed to determine a winner.

  1. Head to head result (but not in the case of a three-way tie)
  2. Goal differential, maximum of three (4) goals per game
  3. Total goals, a maximum of three (4) goals per game
  4. Fewest goals allowed
  5. Total number of shutouts
  6. Penalty kicks* by FIFA “Taking of Kicks from the Penalty Mark.”

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital’s [U18] Sports Medicine program will provide athletic trainers for the United Soccer Cup and will be on site to assist players needing medical attention.

The United Soccer Cup tournament staff monitors the weather leading up the tour tournament and during the tournament very closely.  We will communicate with coaches and team managers in a timely fashion whether prior or during the tournament with any weather-related issues.

Facilities are equipped with lightning detection equipment and horns will blow to alert in case of lightning.  If the horns sound, please have your team seek shelter immediately. The tournament will monitor the weather, and after 30 minutes from the last lightning detection, the Resume Play horns will sound. Any updates with regards to weather and having to adjust the schedule will be posted on the tournament website, as well as emails and text messaes to team coaches and managers. In the case of inclement weather, please check the website regularly for updates.

As noted in the tournament rules, as it relates to inclement weather, the tournament rules and policy are:

INCLEMENT WEATHER GROUP PLAY.  In the event of inclement weather, the Tournament Committee will have the authority (in its sole discretion) to change games as follows:

  1. Reschedule or Relocate match (Time and location determined by Tournament Director).
  2. Shortened match – The Tournament Director may reduce the length of halves due to weather conditions before the restart of a match once delayed due to weather; all such matches will be considered official.
  3. Go to “Penalty Kicks” (Time and location determined by Tournament Director
  4. Be Cancelled (The tournament committee has the right to cancel any match. Any game that is not started and is canceled [as opposed to postponed] due to weather or other external conditions will be recorded as a 0-0 tie.  Canceled games will not be rescheduled.)
  5. Games that have been started and subsequently suspended due to inclement weather or other external conditions will be deemed complete if one half of play has been completed or the first half cannot be completed prior to the start time of the next scheduled game on that field. For any such game that is not completed, the score at the time of the suspension will be the final score. Any game that is not started and is canceled (as opposed to postponed) due to weather or other external conditions will be recorded as a 0-0 tie. Canceled games will not be rescheduled.

If in the event the Tournament Director rules that during the preliminary round “Taking of Kicks from the Penalty Mark.” will be done due to inclement weather or field conditions, the following rule will apply:

  • Each team will take a maximum of five (5) penalty kicks.
  • At the end of five (5) kicks the game will be scored as a 1-0 win for the team that has scored more penalty kicks, or a 0-0 tie if both teams are tied in penalty kicks at the end of five (5) kicks.
  • In the overall standings, 3 points will be given for the win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.
  • The 1-0 on penalty kicks will be counted for or against to determine the tiebreaker for advancement.
  • If regular games have been played in the bracket and the Tournament Director has determined that other games go to penalty kicks due to inclement weather or field conditions, the regular games score will revert back to a 1-0 win or a 0-0 tie.

INCLEMENT WEATHER FINALS.  In the event of inclement weather affecting the Finals, the Tournament Committee will have the authority (in its sole discretion) to change games as follows:

  1. Relocate or reschedule any game(s)
  2. Change the duration of any game(s)
  3. FIFA penalty kicks
  4. Final Games that have been started and subsequently suspended due to inclement weather or other external conditions, will be deemed complete if one half of play has been completed or the first half cannot be completed prior to the start time of the next scheduled game on that field. For any such game that is not completed, the score at the time of the suspension will be the final score.
  5. If the score at the time of the suspension is tied, or the game cannot be started due to inclement weather, Point E (below) will be taken into account
  6. If the score at the time of the suspension is tied, or any Final game that has not started, and a Champion and Finalist needs to be determined, the tournament will revert back to final group standings based on three (3) points for a win, one (1) point for a tie, and zero (0) points for a loss. In the event of a tie on points between the two teams that are in the Finals, the following criteria will be used to determine the Champion and Finalist.
  7. Head to Head competition
  8. Goal differential to a maximum of four (4) per game
  9. Most goals scored to a maximum of four (4) per game
  10. Least goals allowed to a maximum of four (4) per game
  11. Most Shutouts
  12. FIFA Penalty kicks

Weather issues can create challenges for the tournament staff and we ask that coaches, team managers and families be aware of the above policies and be patience as information and updates are disseminated.

The tournament committee is in regular communication with state, county and local governments, as well as following the guidelines put forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding COVID-19. We are also following closely the Return-to-Play procedures set forth by US Soccer.

The health and safety of our participating players, coaches, families, referees and tournament staff is our top priority and focus. We will be providing teams coaches and team managers, as well as posting our Procedures & Policies for Return-to-Play for the Soccer Locker Cup. If the decision is to postpone or cancel the Soccer Locker Cup due to COVID-19 teams will receive a full refund. Registered and accepted teams will receive regular communication and updates from the tournament committee on this matter and leading up the Soccer Locker Cup.
